Crystal Chandeliers in Historical Buildings

Crystal chandeliers have traditionally been a symbol of status and wealth.  Examples of fine chandeliers can be seen around the world in some of the best known historical buildings.  The large, decorative designs of the chandeliers are awe inspiring to visitors of the buildings.

Visitors to the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul are greeted by the largest Behemian crystal chandelier in the world.  The chandelier is said to have been a gift from Queen Victoria, and weighs approximately 4.5 tons.  It houses a whopping 750 crystal lamps!  The palace also contains the largest collection of Bohemian and Baccarat crystal chandeliers in the world.

The Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria is home to 26 crystalchandeliers.  The chandeliers throughout the palace have been viewed by many prominent and powerful world leaders, such as Napoleon and Emperor Franz II.  The chandeliers have provided light for many important people throughout history as they made critical decisions.

The Stockholm City Hall in Sweden is the official venue for the Nobel Prize banquet and displays a magnificent 1920’s contemporary rock crystal chandelier.  This chandelier has shined its light down on numerous Nobel Prize winners as they basked in the glory of their accomplishments.

Crystal chandeliers can be found throughout the world in the most important historical buildings.  The fixtures have long been a part of history and continue to provide light to those who wish to revisit the past.
