Some Interesting Facts about the White House’s Chandeliers

Since we are interested in crystal chandeliers, and love to highlight them, two of particular interest can be found in the White House. Like anything that is in the While House, these chandeliers are impressive, and get a fair bit of attention.
The biggest room in the White house is the East Room. This room holds balls, conferences, dinners, and a number of other functions. It sports three huge Bohemian style chandeliers. These have actually been taken down two times, so that they could be resized. The last time that happened was when Truman was in office. Despite the deduction each crystal chandelier weighs in at 1200lbs.
But, the biggest crystal chandelier hangs in the Blue Room. It is hard to fully grasp how large this chandelier is: 79 by 36 feet, also known as enormous! Each time it needs cleaning, the job is allotted two full days to be completed. Each year at Christmas, this chandelier is carefully removed to make room for an even larger Christmas tree.
Naturally, our homes don’t sport crystal chandeliers of that caliber. Who could afford the electric bill! But, we can find gorgeous, intricate and contemporary crystal chandeliers that give our homes a well finished look.
